My system is almost complete! I am like 1 module away... super exciting. lol Anyways, got a modular jam here for you guys that I hope you will enjoy. This was a really fun one for me because I really got to explore a lot of modulation routings which resulted in MY most "complex" patch yet! Funny thing is that I still had a few more ideas I wanted to try out... but ... I ran out of cables!! 🤦‍♂️...
My Modular Synth Setup | Update, Overview, and Demo

Hey, guys! I've collected a few more modules since my first modular synth video... so, I just wanted to give you guys an update on the progress of my modular synth build. 😁 Even though it isn't quite finished yet, I've still been having so much fun with the modular synth. Its a whole lot of fun to explore sounds, but also a great jam machine when paired with friends like the Keystep Pro Pro and...

Hey, guys! Here is my first Eurorack modular synth jam! I was messing around with the Keystep Pro / Eurorack combo for a bit and ended up with a some pretty neat patterns and sounds. Down the rabbit hole I go! lol ☺️ So, I've decided to get back into Eurorack and begin putting together a modular synth. To get started, I went with an Arturia RackBrute 6U case and 3 Dreadbox Chromatic series modules: Hysteria, Eudemonia, and Ataxia. As some of you may know, I actually attempted to build a small eurorack system a few years back, but I ended up in way over my head and ended up ...
Mini Jam Monday #39 | Korg Volca FM, Keys, Sample, and Bass

Hey everyone! 👋🙂 Got a new Mini Jam for you guys. This one is a bit on the mellow side, without bit of a build up in the drum section. For this jam, I am using the Volca Keys for bass and a melody; the Volca FM is playing some random strings using the arpeggiator; the Volca Bass is playing some arpeggios /melodies; and the vSample is playing the drums. This was a pretty simple jam, so to keep t...

I think the vDrum is a great companion for the vModular since it can be a bit more intricate and abstract... just like the vModula...

    Can you also use a direct 3.5mm jack to midi in cable to connect sequencer and synth or does it have to be a 3.5mm jack to midi out cable and then a double midi in cable to connect to the synth?

    Does it has velocity key and will it have it and does it need it, and are these key same or going to able to use as the typical piano keys? If I just want to experiment in create song and soundtrack and sound as hobbyist, should I get Yamaha Seqtrak, M8 Tracker 2, OP-Z, OP-1 Field or something else or just use iPhone with apps? Is M8 Tracker really feel tactile and away from computer when it use computer keyboard and a screen?

    one of the best synth demos I've seen. so hard to find simplistic demonstrations on RUclips. I'm learning this kit, and at the same time been teaching my son, I feel like I need to watch hours of demos, read lots of guides and manuals and then translate that info to something my child will understand without his eyes glazing over. This is the kid of Demo a child can even understand. You have an incredible ability to teach to a beginner. Glad I found and subscribe to your RUclips channel. Thank you

    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS DEMO, and also thanks for keeping it simple without a computer linked. its so tricky to find demos aimed at novice/beginners. I'm not a musician, but I like to have fun. experiment, play with something far from your comfort zone. The worst part of trying to learn synths, sequencers etc is trying to reach out for help!, as mostly you receive experts musicians that have 20 years experience that knock you down, or worse the ones that simply say 'Goggle it' ... have they ever tried Google recently, all that yields is junk. Thanks again.

I'm thinking the Sample would probably work, for me, too. I just don't have a whole lot of time to sit and try to figure everything out, the simpler, the better....I just want to make music. Thanks for the informative demo.

    Even though the words are English, and I think I understand the concept (send Channel 1 - receive Channel 1), I must not understand the menus or what is supposed to happen. I know what I want to happen. I want to build sequences in the Electribe using the Roland SH-4d as the source of the sounds? Why? The SH-4d offers zero pattern chaining... but the Electribe does offer pattern chaining. On my Electribe, I go to Global and set the Global midi channel to 1. On my SH-4d, in the midi section of the global menu, I have Midi-TX and Midi-RX all 'ON'. Since the SH-4d is a 5-part multi-track/multi-timbral device, I have Part 1 CH-1 set to 'On'. Since both are set to CH-1, I would have thought that when pressing the Electribe corresponding pad, the SH-4d's sound would be heard. But, this is not working. I am about to try this again with my Polyend Play... but I don't have too much hope. Obviously, people out there are comprehending something that I appear to be missing. Seriously, any assistance here.. or videos truly dumbing this down for me (and others confounded by midi) would be most helpful!!

    Electribe 2 ok packs a lot of excellent quality KORG features from the sq1 and kaos pad into such a usable package with nice internal sounds not cringeworthy or noisy patches. I’ve only got a cv synth but 2 midi ones and a drum module on the way could control them all with this instead of a daw. I like the sound and workflow. Maybe I’ll try score editors at a later date..

    • @littleBIGsynths
      @littleBIGsynths 3 месяца назад

      Thanks! In this specific setup, I am simply connecting the audio OUT of the Roland S1 to the MIX IN (Audio Input) of the Yamaha SEQTRAK. This allows the audio of the external device to be “mixed” together and routed to the main output of the SEQTRAK. 👍 Not all instruments / synths have audio inputs / mix ins… so then you will need an audio mixer. An audio mixer is a device that combines multiple audio signals into one output. Hope this makes sense. 😊

    I read The Hacker uses an Electribe to sequence his entire set - 16 tracks of poly midi is crazy. Most sequencers not are more like a daw and smaller manufacturers come and go, so this is a good value bet plus it’s a great skethpad when you don’t want to switch everything on. I read the manuals of this one and the older unit. Plenty of info/charts showing midi implementation etc. but no instructions on how to program sequences until now. Powerful with basic features. A strip of pads is fine as I’m not a pianist. I’m very happy about this. Thank you!🥁😉

      Thanks! 🙏 This was all programmed by me.👍 You will definitely have to read the manual, watch some videos, and use the companion app a bit to wrap your head around the workflow, BUT once you have an understanding of it… it’s pretty intuitive IMO. Like from the moment it is powered on, I can get a solid jam going in minutes! It is super helpful that all of the stock sounds are high quality and sound great with minimal tweaking. I definitely think it’s worth checking for the price and I don’t think there is really anything that compares for the price other than the opz.

    • @littleBIGsynths
      @littleBIGsynths 4 месяца назад

      Dude! I’m absolutely loving this thing! It's incredibly fun to play with and once you grasp the workflow, it's straightforward and super easy to get some solid jams going. While it's not overly complex in terms of sound design, it does offer a ton of great sounding presets that can be enhanced with basic tools like filters, envelopes, and EQ. Where it truly shines is in the FX department: one individual FX per track, delay and reverb send FX for any or all tracks, a master global effect, and two performance FX. My biggest gripe at the moment is the mute functionality. To mute parts, you have to hold down the mute button on the side of the device and select the tracks you want to mute or unmute. It's an awkward combo, especially since the mute button is right next to the delete button! Ideally, this could be fixed by offering a mute mode, allowing for easier track muting and unmuting with a single button press. It does have an "unmute all" feature, which is nice and the scenes & song mode helps make up for the mute functionality allowing me to program scenes that have certain parts muted and then changing scene where parts are unmuted. If that makes sense. lol Oh, and the build quality is pretty cheap. 😂 That took some time getting used to. lol
